Hello students and parents,

Today the grade 5's continued working on their amazing race project.  They are getting close to finish and I will have them available for you to look through them during parent/teacher interviews.
I am so proud of your children, they are doing an excellent job.

In grade 4, the students are learning about six machines and today we focused on the incline plane and gears.  You can ask your child to explain use of these two machines.  There are fun games and videos under the grade four page, just click on the button that says "Les 4e années".  The students made a machine today that utilizes two gears to show how they transfer energy and help change the direction of the force.

Some of the grade 5's and 4's did not finish their remembrance day project and I put a link with the information about the poster and requirements so they can complete their work at home.  They do not need to enter the contest but their work will be counted as an art mark.

New theme in Science for Gr. 4's

Dear Parents and Students,

The grade 4's are wrapping up their Social Studies unit about Alberta's regions and we are now returning to Science.

Our Science theme this month is Simple Machines.

The six types of simple machines are:
  • the inclined plane
  • the wedge
  • the screw
  • the lever
  • the wheel and axle
  • the pulley

There are many good sites online to learn about simple machines.
Here are some websites with definitions and examples of simple machines:
