Dear Parents,

Last week students made beautiful art using an optical allusion to draw the viewer's eye towards the center of their picture.
Here is a link to the video student's used to created their art work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9DW4wg2DdwU

Today grade 4 students continued to learn about lights and shadows.  Today we discussed changes in the size and location of Sun shadows during the day—early morning, to midday, to late afternoon.  We also investigated how opaque materials cast shadows, and predict changes in the size and location of shadows resulting from the movement of a light source or from the movement of a shade-casting object.  Finally we classified materials as transparent, partly transparent (translucent) or opaque.

In Grade 5 students reviewed the construction of their Barometers and we looked at the changes that may occur during a high pressure (sunny day) and a low pressure (cloudy day) day.

Grade 5 students continued learning about the weather system and completed a worksheet that explained the different types of precipitation and how they form.  Students will have more time to finish this worksheet in class before we correct it.

Grade 5 and grade 4 students continued learning about poetry today.  Students looked a few different pieces of poetry and learned about rhyming schemes.  Students created their own poems using the following rhyming schemes: aabbcc and ababcc.

Dear Parents and Gr.4's/5's,

Today grade 5's learned how to make a barometer and why we use a barometer to measure atmospheric pressure which helps us know if it is going to be a sunny day or a rainy day.

Here is a really good video to help students get a better understanding of the concept discussed today.

Grade four students did an experiment that demonstrates that light travels outward from a source and continues unless blocked by an opaque material.

Most student needed to finish their work in class but those who did not it was sent home for homework.

We also started our poetry unit where students were given a poem for you to read together and discuss the meaning and comparisons.

Hello Gr. 4/5's and Parents,

1. Open with an introduction paragraph that does the following things:
- catches the reader's attention
- identifies the thing you'll be reviewing

2.  Write at least 3 details about each aspect you want to examine:
- write several detailed sentences that prove the point you are trying to make
- use quotes or examples from the play

3.  End with a conclusion paragraph that does the following:
- restates the main idea of the review
- makes a judgement (like giving, thumbs up or down)
- recommends that the reader go to the play or not
